Blue Jays Battle Warriors

The Marshfield Blue Jays took on the New Covenant Warriors on their home field tonight in an awesome battle. The Jays were a force to be reckoned with! Jesse Day landed the first goal in the fourth minute of play off the assist of Joe Callihan. Then Callihan took a goal of his own off the assist of Willis Zirschky, just three minutes later. Later in the first half the Warriors scored to make the score at half time 2-1.
During the second half Ethan Jernigan booted another ball in the box with 11 minutes left in the game. He was assisted by the Jays only senior , Thomas Hyde. The Jays were not to be denied with a total of 19 shots at goal. Shots were taken by Thomas Hyde(1), Joe Callihan(3), James Reese(7), Jesse Day(3), Austin Fairbairn(1), Ethan Jernigan(1), C J Obermaier(1) and Willis Zirschky(2). The Jays continue to step up their game and improve with each match. Goalkeep, Cory Dotson had 13 saves allowing only one score by the Warriors. Thus putting the Jays record at 3-3-1, the best record in Marshfield Boys Soccer since the program started in 2000.
The next game will be Monday night on the Jays home field against Nixa. The start of the game will be delayed 1/2 hour to begin at 5:00 PM. GO JAYS!!!!

Not to be denied their place in the sun on the field, the JV team took the Warriors JV team to task also. They won with a final score of 5-2. The JV Jays first goal came off the foot of Ethan Repogle in the first half. The score at half time was 1-2 in favor of the Warriors. But the Jays came back out in the second and fought with a purpose. Robert Martin booted one in in the 42nd min, followed by a PK from Keeper James Reese at the 57th minute , Joe Callihan in the 59th and another by Robert Martin in last seconds of the game. It was a GREAT game to watch.
The entire evening was a wonderful thing to behold for Blue Jays fans.
