Blue Jays Shine In Bolivar

The Marshfield Blue Jays played darn good futbol, in Bolivar this weekend. They participated in the Bolivar Liberator Soccer Classic and even though, they didn’t win the tournament, they played some of the best soccer they have played to date.
The Jays started the event on Friday night against the Liberators. The match was intense with Bolivar scoring 2 in the 1st half. But the Jays came out during the second and scored one, off the foot of senior, Thomas Hyde, in the 34th minute. The Jays managed to hold the Bolivar team to that score, thanks to great defense and keeper, Cory Dotson. The final for the game was 1-2, in favor of Bolivar. But, for those of you that remember the home game against Bolivar, that ended in a 2-7 loss, for the Jays, this game represents a dramatic improvement in play.
The Jays, second game, was Saturday morning, against the Central Bulldogs. The Jays once again showed great team work and got on the board in the 3rd minute, with a shot off the boot of James Reese, assisted by Robert Martin. The 1-0 score held until half time.
During the second half, the Blue Jays came out with a vengance, starting with a shot from Joe Callihan in the 49th, then C.J. Obermaier planted one in the box in the 52nd minute. Ethan Jernigan followed suit in the 55th, and Joe Callihan finished up, (his second goal), with 3 minutes left in the game. The final score was 5-0.
The final game pitted Blue Jay against Blue Jay, Marshfield vs. Greenwood. The Marshfield team played with great dignity and heart , but fell 0-1. GOOD WORK MARSHFIELD!!!!
