Blue Jays Bite Bulldogs

The Marshfield Blue Jays met the Central Bulldogs on neutral ground, Thursday evening, at Cooper 1. The cool weather seemed to fire the Marshfield team up. The first goal, in the first half, was off the boot of Ethan Jernigan from an assist by Jesse Day. The second was put in the box, by James Reese with Jesse Day getting another assist. The match went to halftime with the score of 2-0 in favor of the Jays.
During the second half, Ethan Jernigan once again was the first Jay, to put he ball in the box , this time Willis Zirschky got the assist. Later in the game, Jesse Day decided to get one for himself with a breakaway, to make the score 4-0. Goal number 5, came off a, right footed shot from Zirschky, ( I only mention because he is a lefty) with an assist from James Reese. Freshman, Robert Martin made goal number 6, unassisted. The final goal in the match, for the Jays, came from Junior, Joe Callihan, also unassisted. The Bulldogs did score one goal during the second half from a corner kick, making the final score 7-1 in favor of the Blue Jays.
I just want to mention some of the other statistics of the game:
Defender Adam Callaway got a save, GK Cory Dotson got 5 saves, Jesse Day had 2 assist and 1 shot at goal besides his point scored, Ethan Jernigan got an additional shot at goal to go with his 2 goals, Wesley O’Neal took a shot at goal, Willis Zirschky got 7 shots at goal to go with his score and Robert Martin had an additional 2 shots at goal. I am sure there are more stats but, these are all I could get off the sheet. The point of it all is, that the team is continuing to take the shots and the more they shoot the more they will score!!! The JV game was cancelled. But, the JV Jays will travel back to Willard to the tournament this weekend. First game bright and early, at 8:00, the second is a 9:30. GO JAYS!!!!
