The Marshfield Blue Jays played the New Covenant Warriors tonight at home. The Jays played a pretty good game, but they just didn’t click like they did,Monday night, against Laquey. The Jays had several good drives in the first half, but it was a Warrior that found the back of the net first. Half time came with a 0-1 score.
The second half the Jays rallied but, couldn’t finish on their drives to the box. They had several shots at goal, but didn’t get the ball planted where it needed to be to score. The last 5 minutes of the game saw the Warriors take advantage of a penalty in the box and score their second goal, to finish the game 0-2. The Jays played hard, but they just didn’t seem to pull it together and get the touches they were experiencing Monday. They will get another chance to show what they can do Monday night at Nixa at 4:30.
The JV Jays had an exceptional game. Wesley O’Neal scored a goal in the first half and another in the second half. O’Neal also got the assist , when Joe Callihan scored the Jays final goal to finish the game, 3-1. The Warriors JV team scored their goal also during the second half. Good Job to all the Jays , just keep playing hard and GO JAYS!!
Warriors Ground Jays
September 13th, 2007Blue Jays Soar To Victory At Home
September 10th, 2007 The Marshfield Jays played their first home game tonight on a very sloppy field. The Jays looked like a totally different team from the group that lost to Ozark last week. The Jays game out of the gate with a fury, sophmore Robert Martin flew in to score in the 2nd minute of play. Martin was assisted by freshman Colton Hardin. Just 2 short minutes later, Jesse Day planted another goal off the assist from Martin. The Jays contunued to play with dynamite teamwork, keeping the pressure on the Laquey defense. Then in the 11th minute of play Ethan Replogle booted the ball into the box off another assist by Robert Martin. That made the score 3-0, which is were it stayed until halftime.
After half , Laquey came out to score their only goal of the game in the 60th minute of the game. But the Jays once again picked up the pace and in the 70th minute, Wesley O”Neal capitalized on a deflection off the post that was sent in by Willis Zirschky. This made the score 4-1. That is were the score remained for the rest of the game. This gave the Blue Jays their 2nd win of the season, making their record 2-2. The game showed the Jays true potenial. The team work was wonderful. If the team continues to play with the passion and team work that they displayed tonight, there will be no stopping them! GREAT JOB BOYS!!! Our next game is Thursday, September 13th at home at 4:30. GO JAYS!!!
Blue Jays Battle Bolivar
August 29th, 2007 The Jays travelled to Bolivar, Tuesday to take on the Bolivar Liberators. The first half was a very intense battle with both teams remaining scoreless at half. The Jays had several shots at goal with no luck.
The second half started just as action packed, with both teams playing well. But, alas, a foul against the Jays turned the tide. Bolivar took advantage of a penalty kick and put one in, making the score 0-1. The Jays continued to play tough , but were just unable to take advantage of the many shots at goal they had. The Senior strong, Liberators were able to capitalize on 3 more shots to make the final score 0-4.
The Jays continue to evolve into a team to be contended with. One of the Senior Liberators commented about the Jays …” their alot better…” . The Jays will continue to get better with every game.
The JV Jays did better in their match. Freshman, Josh Morgan put one in, at the 23rd minute of play. Then later, in the last 30 seconds of the half, Wes O’Neal planted another ball, to make the score at half, 2-0.
Bolivar came out swinging and scored 3 minutes into the second half and then again, 5 minutes later. Making it a tied game. Four minutes later they scored again, putting them on top 2-3. Fortunately, for the Jays, Kyle Cary, put one in the box during the 46th minute. Making it a 3-3 game. Then with 6:51 left on the clock, Bolivar booted in another one. With 4 minutes left to play, Ethan Replogle scored off the assist of D.J.Hensley, to make the final 4-4. A very hard played game. Good Job to all the Jays. Keep up the intensity.
The next game is Sept., 4th at Ozark. Game time 4:30. GO JAYS!!!
Blue Jays Bite Dawgs
August 27th, 2007 The Marshfield Blue Jays travelled to Aurora, Monday evening to face the Houn’ Dawgs for the first game of the season. The Jays showed their teeth during the first half with several shots at goal. The Aurora keeper did a great job of protecting the box. Halftime time came with the score 0-0.
The Jays came out with more bite than bark the second half . Jesse Day scored the first goal with an assist by Robert Martin. Later Robert Martin put his own shot in the box, with the assist from Jesse Day.The third goal came off the foot of an unassisted Ethan Jernigan. The fourth and final goal was booted by Ethan Replogle. This gives the Jays a shut out for their season opener. The entire team played with drive and worked well together. Looks like all the hard work at practices has paid off. It was a pleasure to watch. The final score was 4-0 with the Jays taking home their first win of the season and their season opener for the second year running. GREAT JOB!!!
Tomorrow, Tuesday, Aug. 28th, the Jays play in Bolivar, starting at 4:30. Be sure and check the schedule for future games. We are looking forward to an exciting season on the pitch.
